Silver Girl
Records (SG-038)
11-song Compact Disc
A.M. Vibe, the latest from San Diego’s rock scene, rise from the
ashes of various groups Red Dye No.5, Dodgeball,
and The Almighty Ultrasound -- all who toured and released their music
through Silver Girl, Candyfloss and Cargo. The trio admittedly is influenced
by the rawness of Nirvana, the fuzz of Jesus and Mary Chain and the melodies
of The Sundays and The Stone Roses. Using their sometimes noisy…
sometimes nice approach they deliver simple, irresistible and intelligent
songs.
With the local press and fellow musicians nominating them " Best
Alternative Band " in their hometown, completing their self-produced
full-length [with engineer Ben Moore (Ravi Shankar, Rocket from the Crypt)].
The upcoming months of touring in celebration of the album’s release
in the US (on Silver Girl) and Japan (on Tone Vendor) are really what
the band is focused on -- getting out of town to meet those that have
emailed them from abroad after hearing Mp3s on the web. It’s going
to be one heck of a ride from here on out.
"This band is the West Coast version of The Sundays. Simple rhythms
with a distorted thick guitar sound. As soon as I heard this I just thought
'I love this!" -- Rock & Pops Japan
"It's
Lolita rock - mixing adult sexuality and narcotic cool with doe-eyed girlish
innocence…pulled off with the etherealism of good 4AD records. Few
bands can do ironic innocence as well as A.M Vibe. If ' Welcome to the
Dollhouse ' had a house band, it would be A.M. Vibe. You're not sure if
you want to fuck Lisah or track down the bastard who stole her candy.
At their live shows, she has the rare gift of giving off an awe-striking
sensuality while not for one instance cheapening the rocker girl in her.
Lisah's girlish vocals are packed with nostalgia; yet the bands craggy
rock suggests a more adult state of emotional conflict." -- Troy
Johnson editor SLAMM Magazine
