SILVER GIRL Welcome to silvergirl.com -- the home of my three recording imprints and magazine. Silver Girl Records, our indie-rock/pop record label, has an eight-year history of fine vinyl and CD output. With the latest releases by Chong Marker, Dewey Defeats Truman and Slowcoach, the label continues to stretch the boundaries of its "sound". Intelligent Recordings, our drum 'n' bass label, features frenetic CPU jockeys from the US and the UK. With the first ten releases behind us, the label has carved out a critically acclaimed roster for those favoring the Technics 1200. Curious Electricity, our in-house hip-hop and downtempo sideshow, is still in its infancy. With only two 12" releases thus far, the label is poised to deliver more important experimental beats throughout the second millennium. Mod Magazine was born out of the photocopied hand-distributed newsletter, Silver Boy. Now with its 6th issue leaving the world of newsprint behind, we hope you enjoy the focus of this music publication. The players and sounds are diverse, but the tone set by a few bands speaks volumes across continents. Silver Girl Records presents a catalog of DIY-spirited rock from varied locations, and diverse points of view. From Holiday Flyer's innocent optimistic pop, to Gapeseed's experiment-consumed math-rock and Track Star's well-noted indie-rock, and T-Shirt's sensual motorika, if it's valuable, it's here. Our latest crop of releases is evidence of the diverse talent pool. Kill Me Tomorrow bend the rules defining all currently praised genres. T*Shirt's 2nd album is culled from the vaults of a disbanded tour de force akin to 18th Dye. AM Vibe were described recently as melding of Nirvana and Velocity Girl. The Red Channels conjures comparisons to a hung-over Yo La Tengo, or a fiercely distraught Stereolab. Nigel dip their toes in waters harboring the sounds of Apples in Stereo or Ladybug Transistor.
