Diego, California based producer by way of St. Louis is gonna set the
new style with his debut 12". Kojak, having relocated to L.A.,
has released tracks with co-conspirator Tom B. as Soul Hypnotist as well. As a co-conspirator (with Intelligent Recordings producer Tom B.) in the Soul Hypnotist project, Kojak has already proved his inimitable style in creating drum ‘n’ bass and downtempo soundscapes. With Zodiac/Momentum, Kojak reaches a new high in his first foray into dancefloor territory. Working together under the name Soul Hypnotist, Kojak, along with Tom B. have produced a number of tracks and the CD Exotic Neurotic (on Grey Communication). Their recent relocation to San Diego (from St. Louis) led to a quick introduction to the city’s only drum ‘n’ bass label run by producer/DJ Keith York. Taking notice of both his Solid Liquid Gas and Werks Factory DJ projects, Kojak inquired about working with the label. What followed were a sling of dubplates and this - Kojak’s debut 12” for the DJ set. Kojak’s first vinyl offering was remixed and remixed until we were all happy with Keith’s tweaked sensibilities (which led to...) and sampling of Solid Liquid Gas’ “Fisticuff Drums” to complete the tracks. |
