Slowcoach

“New Strategies are Necessary, This is Not Solid Ground” CD (SG-035)
12-song Compact DisC

As people, we communicate in story form. Slowcoach are a story of passionate songwriters highly focused on the outcome of listener-hears-song-listener-loves-song, they will deliver rock by any means necessary. Spread out across the urban environment of central California, the trio of Bob, Danny and Peter come together more frequently than the outsider would imagine. After all, Californians love to drive and Slowcoach can get a lot done in a short amount of time.

Writing, "New Strategies are Necessary, This is Not Solid Ground" took more time to pick through the dense catalog of songs written to find 12 appropriately matched ideas, than to write the songs (on the album) themselves. Putting together your debut album is certainly no easy chore, nor one any of Slowcoach’s members took lightly. We wrote, e-mailed and phoned one another for weeks dissecting the dozens of songs that audiences had freaked out over at shows up and down the Left Coast of the USA.

Freaking out is something the staff at Silver Girl did upon hearing the first tapes sent to the mailbox. Hand-drawn covers, and hand-written j-cards with dozens of songs outlined a productive trio of song-writers as well as music-speaks-first, all-else-matters-secondarily, to their cause. Following the break-up of HyperAttractive, Slowcoach formed to devote even more energy into both the spastic and quiet nature of their music. Bob 4-tracks much of what later becomes Slowcoach music (as well as gives him fodder for a solo album someday) and those tapes and CDRs are shared with band members prior to arranging practice sessions in one of the cities Slowcoach calls home (currently).

In short bursts of brilliant energy output, Slowcoach take a fanatic appreciation for the Archers of Loaf and make deserved mayhem out of the stresses and pressures of daily life.

The story is only now unfolding. Soon after their single on Furball was released, they began to realize the power harnessed within Slowcoach ideas, and from that an album was the next logical step. As they are poised to launch a national tour to showcase this mayhem (you gotta see the live show to believe how animated Slowcoach can be), it may only be the album that some of the population gets to witness. With the attention to detail combined with the fury of Slowcoach’s music, they are going to make themselves stand out of the crowd. With any hope your enjoyment of this album will spread to others and across this land kids of all ages will join together to rush the stage (even in somebody’s basement in Washington DC) prior to the trio plugging in.

Robert Reich - vocals, guitars, keys
Daniel Nicholson - drums
Peter Harb - bass, vocals
